Our passion for native trees and shrubs is palpable. We have over a decade of experience designing, establishing, monitoring, and maintaining native forested plant communities across a wide diversity of Mid-Atlantic landscapes, including riparian buffer establishment and the conversion of agricultural land back into ecologically robust hardwood forest. Our experience also spans high-intensity, low acreage reforestation projects to low input approaches, installing 100,000+ deer resistant native tree and shrub seedlings across the landscape, and everything in between.

Differing from uplands, sustained high water tables have a drastic effect on plant compatibility, resulting in a wide variety of alternative, entirely different native wetland plant communities. We have experience successfully designing and establishing wetland vegetation across the full spectrum of wetland hydrologic conditions, from afforesting newly constructed wetland cells to enhancing degraded marsh habitat. Correct species selection is critical to the success of wetland restoration projects.

Our team has developed comprehensive vegetation management plans for utility-scale solar facilities across the nation, including Virginia's first utility-scale solar facility to become certified under the VA Pollinator-Smart Program. Our staff have also designed and implemented over 80,000 linear feet of functional, eco-friendly tree and shrub plantings as visual screening around solar facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Our solutions blend science and value-engineering principles to achieve regulatory compliance that benefits all project stakeholders.

While not naturally abundant in the Mid-Atlantic landscape, native plant communities dominated by native herbaceous species (most notably grasses and wildflowers) provide unique ecological niches and a charming, even breathtaking aesthetic. Creating these ecosystems is easier said than done, and the design and implementation are both an art and a science.  Our advanced technical understanding of the applicable strategies, tactics, and techniques will set your pollinator habitat project up for success.
